Pallet-ready packaging development is complex
The cost of logistics for a product are largely determined by the dimensions of its packaging. If there is flexibility here, the MultiPack planning and analysis software can quickly and accurately calculate pallet-ready dimensions for
- Single package
- Outer packaging
- Transport packaging
The goal is to achieve the maximum possible number of products on a pallet.
By using the two or three step analysis of MultiPack, you save valuable planning time. Based on your specifications, the software calculates up to 400 possible solutions in seconds. Thanks to detailed 3D visualisations, these can be evaluated and changed as needed.

An explanation of the range of functions for MultiPack
Optimal design of individual and outer packaging
Determine the optimal dimensions for individual and secondary packaging in no time with the optimisation module MultiPack Two Step Analysis, to maximise pallet storage space. You interactively control the entire analysis and planning process by specifying which parameters should be varied – individually or in combination.
The following parameters can be freely adapted:
- Individual Packaging:
dimensions, number of items per outer packaging, vertical alignment, arrangement - Outer packaging:
construction (e.g. FEFCO 0201 or individual design), material thickness, inside spacing, maximum weight - Standard packagings:
optional use of pre-saved standard packagings, minimum filling level - Palettisation:
alignment of the secondary packaging on the pallet – layered or interlaced
The result: automatically generated suggestions with optimal packing density, that are realistically visualised and practically implemented.
Optimal design of individual, outer and transport packaging
The module MultiPack Three Step Analysis, is a powerful tool for the simultaneous optimisation of individual, outer and transport packaging – provided that several outer packagings are bundled together in one transport package.
Building on the functions of the Two Step Analysis, the following parameters can be varied individually, or in combination:
- Outer packagings per transport packaging:
number, arrangement and orientation - Transport packaging:
construction type, material thickness, inside spacing, maximum weight - Standard packagings:
optional use of pre-saved standard packaging, minimum filling level - Palletisation:
alignment of the transport packaging on the pallet (e.g. layered or interlaced)
The result: a three step optimised packaging solution, in which all levels – from the product to the pallet – are precisely matched. This is ideal for maximum storage space, stable loads, and reduced logistics costs.
Best possible use of standard packagings and reusable containers
MultiPack offers the possibility of precisely integrating existing packaging forms (such as standard boxes or reusable containers), into the optimisation process. As soon as you have entered a list of permitted packaging options, MultiPack can determine both individual solutions and the most efficient selections from the available formats, based on your specifications.
In order to achieve the highest possible packing density, MultiPack calculates the optimal arrangement of the products in a one, two, or four block structure, depending on the enclosure to be used. As the user, you decide which suggestion is implemented.
The illustrated example shows an optimisation for the Galia/Odette box 4322 in a two step analysis with rectangular packaging:
- One block arrangement: 20 items per box
- Two block arrangement: 26 items per box
- Four block arrangement: 28 items per box
This scenario demonstrates how MultiPack allows you to use the maximum available volume – for efficient, repeatable packing solutions.
Packing instruction forms: designed by Multiscience according to the customer’s needs
The print outputs generated by MultiPack provide a structured visual overview of all packing details – from single dimensions, to pallet configuration.
If additional customer specific information or layouts are required, Multiscience can implement individual packing instruction forms in MultiPack exactly to your requirements.
All forms can be saved in commonly used graphic formats (e.g. BMP, PNG, or JPEG), for application in dispatch, manufacturing, or quality control.
The examples demonstrate the variety of individual form layouts which are used, among others, in the pharmaceutical, confectionery, or packaging industries.
