Reliably determine volume optimised packaging
In online trading, reducing unnecessary space in boxes by intuitively choosing the correct shipping box, is not so simple. In 61% of cases, the top 100 online shops researched for the mail order commerce study in 2023, were found to use packaging which was too large. This results in unnecessary costs for packaging and filling material, and transport. It also increases the risk of damage during transport, and is damaging to environment and climate.
There is considerable potential for improvement. Not every online trader will invest in a cardboard cutting machine, with which for every order just-in-time, a perfectly fitting packaging can be produced. It can also work without one. With the optimisation software MultiMix Shipping Box Selection, you can reliably identify, from your inventory and for every order, the shipping box with the smallest volume and an optimal packing layout. MultiMix will optimise, where others have long since given up.

Intelligent choice of shipping packaging – based on your information
In order to meet customer delivery requirements, a range of shipping packaging of various sizes, is kept on inventory. The software can access relevant product information (dimensions, weight, vertical orientation), packaging parameters (inside dimensions, weight restrictions), and the couriers shipping terms.
Before processing begins, MultiMix Shipping Box Selection determines the following for each order
- the suitable packaging with the smallest volume
- for larger orders, a minimum amount of volume optimised packaging
- an optimal arrangement of items for each used packaging
- optionally, the necessary filling material
Visualise results & process data automatically
The result is clearly displayed in a 3D visualisation, making it easy to check the arrangement.
Subsequently, MultiMix creates:
-
optional packing lists CSV format
-
optional robot control data for automated order picking
-
upon request, connectivity to your WMS/ERP system
Thanks to a modular design, its range of functions can be adapted to your processes at any time.
