What MultiMix for Robots can do – a selection

  • Import of the picking orders with item information (including dimensions, weight, permissible vertical orientation)
  • Reading of the utilised load carrier data
  • Calculation of the minimum number of load carriers required
  • Compliance with weight and height restrictions
  • Consideration of the integration of item and product categories
  • Calculation of a stable stowage plan for each load carrier
  • Consideration of how fragile and stackable specific items are
  • Determination of the exact position for each individual package
  • Calculation and generation of control data
  • Consideration of interfering contours in the palletising area
  • Export of robot control data

Analyse & group picking orders

MultiMix for Robots breaks down each picking order into a minimum number of stable load units, based on the order data provided. This significantly lowers the order related logistic costs. For the calculation, the specifications of the user are taken into account. For example:

  • maximum loading height for each load carrier
  • maximum weight for each load carrier
  • how fragile and stackable specific items are
  • separation or consolidation of item or product groups

Calculate stable stowage plans, generate & export control data

In addition to pallets, other load carriers can also be used, e.g. rolling containers, pallet boxes, or reusable containers. Due to the supporting walls, the requirement for a stable cargo is less than would be necessary when using pallets. MultiMix for Robots calculates

  • a stable stowage plan for each load carrier
  • the exact position of each package on the load carrier
  • the order in which the conveyor system feeds the packages

Finally, MultiMix for Robots generates and exports the control data for the robot used. In doing so, the equipment and functionality of the robot are taken into consideration, in order to ensure a maximal packing capacity and uninterrupted operation.

Integrate customer specific features

MultiMix for Robots is custom developed and implemented for the client. Therefore, all customer requirements can be represented in the software. For example: when the deployed palletising robot picks items directly from a homogenous source pallet out of the warehouse onto the picking pallet, the task is to always transfer the entire quantity of each order onto the picking pallet. This is because the source pallet should, if possible, only be requested from the warehouse once.

Acquisition support with new projects

Robot manufacturers and integrators can profit from robotic systems even in the planning stage. With MultiMix for Robots software, Multiscience provides the possibility to visualise automated picking in advance, based on real order data. This makes it possible to evaluate alternative high performance robotic systems.

Customer reviews

What our long term customers say

“As a long-standing customer, we greatly appreciate both the products and the cooperation with Multiscience.

With its software tools, Multiscience enables us to create packing schemes efficiently and user-friendly, without the need for programming knowledge. The ability to create these within a few minutes and use them on our machines increases flexibility and efficiency in production and represents considerable added value for our customers.

We also appreciate how flexibly and quickly Multiscience responds to very specific applications. The ability to adapt products at short notice has greatly enriched our collaboration and significantly advanced our projects.”

Frequently asked questions about MultiMix for Robots

MultiMix can process items with variable size, form, weight, and orientation. Standard pallets, rolling containers individually defined load carriers are supported.

MultiMix minimises the number of load carriers needed for each order, calculates stable stacking, and optimises the capacity. This lowers logistics costs and significantly reduces the need for manual corrections.

No. The software will operate on standard windows systems and is generally installed on an office PC in production planning, or directly onto the robot.

The difference lies in the application scenario:

  • MultiPack is used for identical Products (e.g. identical boxes, buckets, sacks)

  • MultiMix on the other hand, specialises in different sized products with different properties, e.g. mixed displays or customised mixed pallets

MultiMix Mixed Pallet Loading is used to optimise manual picking of mixed pallets. Information on the correct placement of packages can, for example, be displayed on a computer screen. In automated picking, the robot requires corresponding control data to correctly place the packages. MultiMix for Robots calculates both optimal stowage plans and the corresponding control data for each picking order and transmits them to the robot.

Profit from the expertise of the Multiscience team

Since 1990, we have been translating the innovations of machine manufacturers worldwide, into effective palletising performance with the development of our control software. With the experience we have gained through this long standing cooperation, combined with our comprehensive solution expertise, we have demonstrated time and again that even with complex tasks in extraordinary situations, Multiscience always finds reliable solutions for automated palletising and depalletising.
